Proposals are being invited by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation from organizations around the world to propose projects that can lead to the "global knowledge and understanding of the challenges that Lower Middle Income Countries (LMICs) face as they explore the potential of new vaccines." It is mostly a kind of a research grant on the basis of which the grantee would be further requested to develop new strategies and measures for promoting the adoption of new vaccines in the LMICs. The key questions to be addressed include what kinds of challenges limit the adoption of new vaccines in LMICs? What are the potential options to address them? What are the costs, benefits and limitations involved? Applicants can apply online but need to go through the eligibility requirements and the application process in greater detail. Proposals are to be limited for up to 20 pages and the maximum amount available under this grant is US $750,000. The last date for submitting the proposal is 18 May 2009. To get more information, the organization has to register itself on the Foundation's UNISON webpage. For more information, visit this link.
