Gates Foundation Grant Opportunity

This may sound rather technical, but the grant opportunity is actually opened to all, including NGOs, individuals, private organizations, social researchers and scientists. The Grant Challenges Explorations Round 3 of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is now open and it can be applied by just anyone. It encourages applicants to submit new and innovative ideas that can contribute to further research in the development of "new vaccines, diagnostics, drugs and other technologies targeting diseases that claim millions of lives every year." The topics covered under this Round are:

* Create Low-Cost Diagnostics for Priority Global Health Conditions
* Create New Ways to Induce Mucosal Immunity
* Create New Vaccines for Diarrhea, HIV, Malaria, Pneumonia and Tuberculosis
* Create New Tools to Accelerate the Eradication of Malaria

The grant-making process under this opportunity is extremely simple and expeditious. The Foundation seeks only a two-page application without any need for preliminary data or other background ifnormation. Grants are processed through four months after the submission deadline. The total grants are available up to $100,000. Applications can be sent through the website. The last date for submitting the application is 28 May 2009. For more information, visit this link.
